Volunteer event at Food Share to support Covid relief
Description
I turn 50 in a few weeks, with mixed feelings. It also comes at such an interesting time in our world. Lately I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how nearly every person on the planet is going thru the Coronavirus pandemic. We’re all created equal, and we’re reminded of the importance of treating and respecting each other as equals. In some ways, we’re all connected to this shared experience, creating a bond that unites us, reminding us of our shared value, and of our shared values. While a little uncertain at times, life has become a little simpler, maybe a little less busy, and I’m appreciating the basics – food, family, nature, health and home.
Thinking about all that, it would be amazing if you helped me remember turning 50 by supporting Food Share, a vital non-profit that supports 179 food pantries in Ventura County. These food pantries provide free food to those in need…75,000 meals per month! They’re part of the national network Feeding America. Imagine if food, your daily meal and nutrition, was uncertain? 1 in 6 people in Ventura County struggle with what’s called food insecurity. 1 in 6…wow! It makes me thankful for what I have, and wanting to help those who don’t.
